COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Residents in Stehekin say delays in river repairs threaten access to Company Creek as concerns grow over the spring melt. Officials will meet Feb. 10 to discuss a three-phase plan—restoring the river channel by March 15, rebuilding Company Creek Road, then fixing the levee by Oct. 1.  KPQ
  • Cabo, a well-trained seven-year-old Pit Bull, is looking for his forever home at the Wenatchee Humane Society. He loves belly rubs, follows commands, and enjoys outdoor adventures — visit during regular adoption hours Thursday through Tuesday for a chance to bring him home.  KPQ

CULTURE NEWS

  • Write On The River announced its annual competition and will host its first free workshop of the year on Valentine's Day. Community members can expect a chance to explore creative writing at this local event.  The Wenatchee World

  • Wenatchee High School hosted its first Golden Apple Indoor Percussion performance in the school commons during winter afternoons, marking a milestone in its music program.   • The U.S. Forest Service burns a slash pile along Beaver Valley Road between Plain and Lake Wenatchee today — drivers may see smoke and should exercise caution.  KPQ

  • State lawmakers will hold committee votes this week on three bills aiming to tax, ban synthetic additives, and require licensing for kratom sold in stores as health officials warn of safety risks. The proposals seek to balance public safety with access for adults using the supplement.  KPQ
