COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Kevin and Jayne Vitulli have been named Youth Parade Grand Marshals at the Apple Blossom Festival. They honor their son’s memory with the annual Nick's Bricks event (April 18 at the Wenatchee Convention Center) and will join the parade on April 25, supporting local youth and nonprofits.  KPQ
  • Malaga Springs Winery is set to open on Valentine's Day and will support the Women's Resource Center, said retired owners Kathy and Allen Mathews. They plan to host community events at their vineyard and winery — blending local celebration with charitable giving.  The Wenatchee World

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Starbucks will launch a major menu update on Monday with six international bakery items, a new brewed coffee (Starbucks 1971 roast) and permanent matcha drinks at its local stores. The change is part of a plan to simplify service and improve quality.  KPQ

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Chelan County Sheriff's Office is hosting a fundraiser on Wednesday, Feb. 25 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Circle 5 Winery in East Wenatchee to raise funds for the BlueBridge program (which helps deputies provide immediate aid like a tank of gas for those in need).  KPQ
  • In Manson, Chelan County awarded a $2.1 million bid to LaRiviere Inc. for Phase 1 of the Totem Pole Road project, which will add sidewalks, ADA-compliant crossings, and drainage improvements starting mid-March, improving safety and accessibility along South Harris Avenue to Green Avenue.  KPQ

HEALTH NEWS

  • Chelan County health officials reported two flu-related deaths, the first fatalities of the season, and they urge high-risk residents to get vaccinated at local pharmacies as flu activity continues into spring.  KPQ

  • Cashmere's Hailey Van Lith shines on the basketball court, earning acclaim as an Olympic 3x3 medalist and first-round draft pick by the Chicago Sky (a sign of her rising influence in our community).  KPQ
