Good morning, Wenatchee. Here's your local news at a glance for Thursday, the 5th of March.

COMMUNITY NEWS

  • A fiber internet project near East Wenatchee on North Baker Avenue from 19th to 23rd Streets and along Northwest Cascade Avenue will impact vehicle and pedestrian traffic until May. Officials advise road users to plan for lane shifts, turn and bike lane closures, and sidewalk detours.  KPQ
  • Wenatchee real estate experts advise residents to update landscaping to prevent neighbor problems (fire pit smoke, bright motion lights, unfenced pools, and overgrown water features can cause disputes). Homeowners are urged to follow local guidelines to protect property values and maintain a peaceful community.  KPQ
  • Bussin, a lively mixed breed (2 years old) named Pet of the Week at Wenatchee Valley Humane Society, may be adopted today if you plan to arrive at least 1 hour before closing.  KPQ

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • The Adams Road overpass on I-90 east of George is closed after a hole was found in the bridge, and drivers face a detour of about six-and-a-half miles while teams inspect the damage (no reopening timeline has been set).  KPQ

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • A 2026 survey in Chelan and Douglas counties recorded fewer homeless individuals (with fewer people agreeing to participate), a change that officials say warrants careful review of the figures.  The Wenatchee World

HEALTH NEWS

  • Wenatchee Confluence State Park offers a scenic spot for birdwatchers after research from Baycrest Hospital shows that birdwatching can slow cognitive decline (experts display enhanced brain pathways). Locals enjoy the park’s natural beauty and mental boost.  KPQ
