- ➤ Wenatchee Valley YMCA was chosen as Grand Marshal of the Apple Blossom Festival Grand Parade on May 3rd, and CEO Dorry Foster learned the news at a board meeting on Tuesday. The YMCA will break ground for its new facility at 5th and Wenatchee Avenue on April 10th at the old Chelan PUD campus. KPQ
BUSINESS NEWS
- ➤ The State Department of Revenue revoked Glaze Bakery’s Certificate of Registration in East Wenatchee for unpaid taxes after filing tax warrants (July 11, 2024, August 8, 2024, November 26, 2024) that stayed unpaid longer than 30 days—operating the business is now unlawful and can result in a Class C felony charge. Glaze Bakery has not yet said if it will re-open. KPQ
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ Wenatchee professor Derek Sheffield has been named Washington’s eighth state poet laureate—he will serve in this role while continuing to teach at WVC. The Wenatchee World
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Chelan County Commissioner Shon Smith said the county is negotiating with the City of Wenatchee to renew a six-month jail contract and faces a lawsuit over an alleged termination notice—he said booking restrictions are standard because the jail limits detox beds. KPQ
