- ➤ Wenatchee Valley YMCA broke ground on a new 30,000-square-foot—two-story facility behind the old Chelan PUD building Thursday afternoon to honor over 100 years of community service. The building will include an indoor track, lap and leisure pool, locker rooms, a kitchen, daycare and exercise rooms with construction set to finish by the end of 2026. KPQ
- ➤ Wenatchee leader Karen Rutherford, with over 25 years of youth mentorship, has been selected as Grand Marshal for the Apple Blossom Festival Youth Parade. She will lead the Tekniplex Youth Parade on Saturday, April 26 — receive $1,000 for a local charity and be honored at the All-Service Club Luncheon on May 1. KPQ

- ➤ Glaze Bakery reopened April 10th after a temporary closure due to roughly $18,000 in unpaid taxes+owners Michael and Amber Smith said the tax issue resulted from a negligent bookkeeper+. The Wenatchee World
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Cascade Medical Center is asking voters to renew a six-year levy on April 22 to pay for ambulance and ER work. The levy will keep the same rate (50 cents per thousand assessed value, about $250 a year for a $500,000 home) and must pass with a simple majority (plus one vote) to fund emergency services over a 1,200 square mile area.
