COMMUNITY NEWS

  • The Washington Senior Farmers Market Nutrition Program is accepting applications for the 2025 season—eligible seniors can apply for help receiving fresh produce from local markets.  The Wenatchee World

CRIME NEWS

  • Four officers involved in a December 2023 non-fatal shooting in which a man fired shots into an empty veterans clinic were cleared of wrongdoing Wednesday—no charges were filed.  The Wenatchee World
  • In December 2023, officers at a Wenatchee veteran's clinic were not charged after using deadly force when 55-year-old Troy McMaster chased them with a weapon and did not drop it during de-escalation attempts— the Douglas County prosecutor ruled that no other safe alternatives were available.  KPQ

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Chelan County PUD expects to finish the splash pad at Wenatchee Riverfront Park for summer use and workers will complete the remaining construction in the coming weeks.  The Wenatchee World
  • Today the City of Wenatchee will host a ceremony at 1600 N Miller Street to break ground on Phase 1 of the Confluence Parkway project. Officials including U.S. Senator Maria Cantwell, Rep. Kim Schrier, county commissioner Brad Hawkins, and Mayor Mike Poirer will use golden shovels to mark the start of a project—set to open in 2027—that builds two new bridges across the BNSF Rail and 1.25 miles of street for vehicles, pedestrians, and bicyclists.  KPQ
  • The Chelan Douglas Regional Port Authority increased funding for rehabbing Pangborn Memorial Airport's runway by $1.6M after costs ticked up following bids in early February — the move will cover the rising expenses of the project.  The Wenatchee World

HEALTH NEWS

  • Retired surgeon Dr. Chris Stahler donated funds to Confluence Health to purchase three new patient simulators and a virtual monitoring system that frees up staff for closer care. The new equipment supported improved emergency training and patient observation — a ribbon cutting was held Tuesday — officials said.  KPQ
