- ➤ Wenatchee Humane Society Shelter now houses over 30 dogs available for adoption, including LOKI—a playful five-year-old husky whose adoption fee has been waived by a donor. The shelter is located at 1474 South Wenatchee Avenue and is open daily from 12:30 pm to 6:00 pm. KPQ

- ➤ Local utility groups are exploring geothermal energy in North Central Washington, a renewable option that could boost the area's power supply in the near future (studies are in progress). The Wenatchee World
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Washington state now offers 67 specialty license plates that celebrate local schools, hobbies, and culture. Data from last year shows nearly 184,000 vehicles carried these plates, generating close to $9.8 million in fees. KPQ
- ➤ Washington State now fines motorists $250 or more for tossing trash on highways, with higher penalties for dropping lit cigarette butts (fines can reach over $1,000 and include fire-fighting costs). Officials advise drivers to keep a garbage bag in their car to avoid fines. KPQ
