Wenatchee Valley advocates celebrated when Gov. Bob Ferguson signed a law Tuesday banning certain exotic animals from traveling entertainment acts.

The law follows similar measures passed more than a year ago in Wenatchee and East Wenatchee.

The WIAA voted down proposals from Eastmont School District to create a third sports classification and to restrict girls’ sports participation to biological females — a decision that leaves the district in limbo — as officials now await clearer state and federal guidelines.
