- ➤ Stehekin welcomes visitors for its tourism season after a hard winter of storms disrupted roads and facilities. County Commissioner Brad Hawkins said repairs on the levee and temporary corduroy bridge are still underway + some spots remain closed as recovery continues. KPQ

- ➤ USS Wenatchee, a WWII tugboat—a symbol of our valley's strength—served in Tokyo Bay on Sept. 2 during Japan's surrender and later joined Operation Crossroads at Bikini Atoll before decommissioning in 1947. KPQ
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Wenatchee Valley Fire Department named Jon Perry as its new fire chief on Tuesday. A native of the valley (and former assistant chief from Idaho Falls), Perry will begin on June 1 while retiring chief Brian Brett assists with the transition. KPQ
