On Monday afternoon, two 21-year-old hikers were rescued on Icicle Creek Trail near French Creek after strong currents swept them away, causing minor lower-body injuries and a possible broken toe — rescue teams used a rope system to help them cross when the trail bridge became impassable.

BJ Kuntz was recommended as the new Director of Athletics and Activities at Wenatchee High School after three finalists were interviewed and a community forum was held; her appointment will begin on July 1 pending board approval + she brings extensive athletics administration experience from her past roles at the district and WIAA.

Deputy Jacob Lewis is leaving his role at Chelan County Regional Jail to join the Douglas County Sheriff’s Department this summer — his K9 partner Gambit will retire to live as a pet in his home.

Chelan County announced the change and has already hired a new handler for the K9 team.

Chelan County Commissioners discussed revising building and planning fees at Tuesday’s meeting— a move that may add $440,000 in revenue to the county.
