- ➤ Cashmere American Legion Auxiliary volunteers will soon honor veterans with a Poppy Days event in Cashmere + the gathering will pay tribute to those who served. The Wenatchee World
- ➤ This Mother's Day weekend, families can visit the Vintage Grace Market at Grace City Church (277 Melody Lane) in Wenatchee for free entry and more than 65 local vendors offering antiques, handmade jewelry, salvaged items, spring plants and other unique gifts. The market runs from 9am to 4pm and also provides food, coffee and pastries for shoppers. KPQ
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ On Thursday evening near Leavenworth and Dryden, a woman reported a man in a silver Ford Crown Victoria using red and blue flashing lights to mimic an officer, and state troopers later arrested 62-year-old Ronald Cowin from Spokane near Quincy—charging him with criminal impersonation. KPQ

- ➤ The Numerica Performing Arts Center will host the 2025 Apple Awards on May 15th at 7 p.m. to honor high school theater talent from Wenatchee and surrounding towns—nominees include performers and production crew from schools in Cashmere, Eastmont, and more—and ticket prices are $20 for adults and $15 for students. - ➤ In March, the USDA announced $1 billion in cuts that hit NCW food banks — causing AmeriCorps positions to be terminated as these banks face funding shortfalls while serving residents. Local food banks now must adjust to tighter budgets with support services scaled back. The Wenatchee World
- ➤ On Thursday, the Wenatchee City Council voted to reverse the rule that required the mayor to confirm the firing of top city officials—this change gives the council full authority to act on these terminations. The Wenatchee World
