CULTURE NEWS

  • Skywatchers recorded rare green fireballs over Washington skies; a video from Camano Island was captured just after midnight on Apr. 29 — another was documented at the Capitol Campus on May 5. The sightings add to multiple reports of unusual celestial events near home.  KPQ
  • The Wenatchee School District Arts Festival returns Friday, May 15, on the Apple Capital Loop Trail with student choirs, orchestras and folklorico groups at four locations including the Linden Tree and Splash Pad. Community members should bring lawn chairs + blankets to enjoy free outdoor art and music.  KPQ

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Remote work is opening new opportunities for skilled workers without a college degree. In Wenatchee and nearby areas, positions in tech + creative fields will offer competitive pay as more companies embrace flexible work options.  KPQ

HEALTH NEWS

  • The Chelan County Coroner’s Office reported 22 overdose deaths in 2025 (down from 37 in 2024) and budgeted a new third position to support its accreditation goals.  KPQ
