ENVIRONMENT NEWS

GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Washington airports received $66.7M in federal funds for safety and capacity upgrades — but Pangborn Airport did not get a grant and expects a FAA offer in 30-45 days for a runway rehabilitation project. Construction will start in July, require a month-long closure in September, and finish in May 2026. KPQ
- ➤ After candidate filings ended on May 9, local elections in Chelan and Douglas counties will decide races for city councils, school boards and fire districts; candidates range from uncontested contests like Wenatchee Council District 2, where Doug Miller runs alone, to competitive races across Chelan and East Wenatchee. Ballots will be mailed starting July 18 for the August primary (on August 5) and voters will receive general election ballots around October 17 with voting on November 4. KPQ
