Good morning, Wenatchee. Here's your local news at a glance for Friday, the 15th of May.

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • Flashing headlights on Washington roads is illegal because the law requires drivers to dim high beams within 500 feet of oncoming cars. Officials advise using low beams or hazard lights to signal hazards such as deer or debris on busy Wenatchee Valley routes.  KPQ

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • State officials reported widespread insect outbreaks damaging trees across forests, with a western spruce budworm outbreak affecting 150,000 acres near Mt. Baker — unprecedented in that region. Staffing cuts left 25% of forests unsurveyed, and the DNR will now conduct aerial surveys to monitor potential 2026 spread.  KPQ

LIFESTYLE NEWS

  • Gerald's Place, located at the Chelan County PUD on North Wenatchee Ave, serves breakfast Monday-Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. and lunch until 2:30 p.m. Guests can order the Sweet and Spicy Hammi Panini featuring pepper Jack and provolone cheeses, ham, apricot-pineapple jam and Sriracha for ($10.99).  KPQ
