CULTURE NEWS

  • Recent research shows King County has 614 Mexican restaurants while Chelan County (home to Wenatchee) and Grant County each have 5.2 per capita, highlighting a booming local dining scene.  KPQ

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Eastmont School District is seeking local residents' input on plans to rebuild three elementary schools and update old facilities + address safety and overcrowding issues. The survey remains open through June 1 so the Board can align improvements with community needs.  KPQ
  • NCW Libraries will launch its expanded Bookmobile service on June 1 to bring books, movies and library programs to key spots across Chelan, Douglas and Grant counties. The mobile library will serve families, seniors and residents by following a set schedule at community partners.  KPQ

HEALTH NEWS

  • Research shows dog owners may live longer thanks to daily walks and social connections. A local Wenatchee resident, who recently adopted a family dog, now enjoys improved health and community ties.  KPQ
  • Chelan-Douglas Health District confirmed Friday that a Chelan County resident has hantavirus. Officials are monitoring the case closely.  The Wenatchee World

REAL ESTATE NEWS

  • A proposed tax on high earners led to a 65% rise in multimillion-dollar home listings statewide. Realtors say sellers now list homes sooner to avoid future tax issues in hot markets like Suncadia + Lake Chelan.  KPQ

SPORTS NEWS

  • Wenatchee Wild signed forward Parker McMillan (born 2011) to a WHL Scholarship and Development Agreement, adding the season’s top draft pick to their lineup. The Surrey native is set to lead at Town Toyota Center as the team builds for the future.  KPQ
