  • Six married couples celebrated nearly 170 combined years of marriage on May 16 at Garden Terrace Independent Senior Living, where the party honored decades of love and commitment.  The Wenatchee World
  • Wenatchee Valley Humane Society will waive adoption fees at its Clear The Shelter event on Saturday, May 23, from 12:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at 1474 S. Wenatchee Avenue, thanks to donors Jesann and Blake Spani, Meeting & Event Solutions and an anonymous donor.  KPQ

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Microsoft is planning a new data center at the old Alcoa site in Malaga (Chelan County) as Helion Energy builds its first commercial fusion power plant to supply power directly and avoid burdening the local utility. The project will help keep power rates stable for residents.  KPQ

  • WestSide High School is hosting a Family Open House and Carnival today at 6 p.m. at 1509 9th Street, inviting families to learn about flexible student programs and enjoy games, prizes, and giveaways (applications for fall programs are open now).  KPQ

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Affected by a July 2021 data breach, individuals have until May 30 to file claims online, by calling the hotline (1-866-841-4244) or via a mailed form; claimants may receive up to $599 or $5,000 for documented losses pending judge approval of settlement funds and improved security.  KPQ

HEALTH NEWS

  • Longevity experts advise Wenatchee residents to switch to whole foods and protein sources at 40 — to support heart health and muscle strength; they recommend adding legumes, nuts, and seeds to daily meals, which can extend life by up to 10 years.  KPQ

LIFESTYLE NEWS

  • Costco's food court has introduced a Strawberry Shortcake Sundae for $2.99 this summer, replacing its caramel churro sundae. The treat offers strawberry soft serve + strawberry topping + shortcake pieces and is available until summer ends.  KPQ

SPORTS NEWS

  • Wenatchee Futbol Academy has merged two established youth soccer clubs to enhance team depth and coaching quality. The academy is holding free tryouts now+ will host the Apple Cup Tournament from July 31 to Aug. 2, drawing local talent for a major summer event.  KPQ
