  • On Tuesday morning, first responders answered a hazmat call on Worthen Street—finding that hydrogen peroxide was evaporating from the soil—and quickly began addressing the incident.  The Wenatchee World

  • In the next two months, three new businesses will move into the former GPA Embroidery space at 22 N. Wenatchee Ave—revitalizing downtown Wenatchee with fresh commercial activity.  The Wenatchee World

CULTURE NEWS

  • Wenatchee Valley Museum & Cultural Center will launch an Adventure and History tour series for adults this year with a tour of Stehekin kicking off the caravan—participants will explore local history and culture during the series.  The Wenatchee World

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest will shift to mostly cashless payments ahead of Memorial Day weekend by requiring the Recreation.gov mobile app at most recreation fee sites + officials said the change aims to simplify the process.  The Wenatchee World
  • East Wenatchee City Council is planning to appoint Ettore Castellente to fill former councilmember Rob Tidd’s seat after his resignation earlier this month—Castellente is already running for council. Council members said the decision resembles musical chairs as they work to finalize the appointment before the next election.  The Wenatchee World

SPORTS NEWS

  • The Wenatchee City Pool will host the Apple Capital Swim Meet from May 29th to June 1st, attracting over 970 competitive swimmers from Washington, Idaho, and Canada. Velocity Swimming (a local team with five decades of tradition) said the three-day meet is expected to boost area businesses by $1 million.  KPQ
