COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Silas—a 3-year-old Shepherd Mix at Wenatchee Humane Society—is available for adoption daily between 12:30pm and 5:30pm, with the shelter closed on Wednesday but offering appointments for adoptions. Local officials are taking steps to address a spike in sometimes fatal feline distemper to protect pets in the community.  KPQ
  • Dave Doane bought back the family pharmacy on Cottage Avenue last year and now runs the store that delivers medicine to long-term care clients while offering a local ice cream treat to regulars — he aims to keep the independent pharmacy strong for the community.   • The first Wenatchee Whiskey Festival drew locals + visitors from Yakima and Quincy as they tasted a range of whiskeys. The event raised $25,000 and nearly sold out, showing strong local support.  The Wenatchee World

  • Eagle Creek Flower Farm’s roadside stand operates every weekend from late spring into early fall, offering seasonal bouquets on an honors system. CULTURE NEWS

  • The Wenatchee Museum, now in the old Post Office building for nearly 50 years, will add 14,000 square feet of space and a new main entrance after its Branch Out campaign raised 60% of needed funds so far - the renovation will connect two parts of the museum and create outdoor space for events and better parking.  Wenatchee Business Journal

  • East Wenatchee city council members and staff met last week to discuss the growing need for low-income housing and potential changes to zoning laws—aiming to close the housing gap.  The Wenatchee World

  • La Cucina di Sophia in Soap Lake serves Italian-Brazilian fusion fare with wood-fired pizzas and authentic pasta dishes that have drawn diners from Wenatchee, Moses Lake and Yakima.
