🌲 Environment
The Pearl Hill fire near Bridgeport expanded from 1,500 acres on Saturday to nearly 6,000 acres by Sunday morning, driven by high winds and with 0% containment.
Officials issued LEVEL 2 evacuation alerts along roads (Fielder Rd, Chalk Hills Rd and nearby areas) and urged residents to avoid drones.
After being sparked by lightning on July 15, the Little Giant Fire has grown to over 19,000 acres with no containment, threatening nearly two dozen structures near Leavenworth in the Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest today — 182 firefighters and additional support work on containment lines along the south side.
🏥 Health
Washington Labor and Industries reminded outdoor workers today to use proper NIOSH-approved respirators and avoid strenuous outdoor activity when wildfire smoke lowers air quality—guidelines also urge employers to have measures in place to protect workers’ health.
