Two Wenatchee Valley College trustees resigned today after text messages containing disparaging remarks about staff, board members, and a petition tied to the president’s contract renewal surfaced.
The college is working with the governor’s office to appoint new trustees.
🌲 Environment
A wildfire sparked by lightning on July 15 has grown to over 22,000 acres with zero containment and now threatens more than 450 structures near Lake Wenatchee.
Fire crews are working to build protection lines as evacuation notices remain in effect.
The Pearl Hill Fire in northern Douglas County has burned nearly 8,500 acres since sparking on Saturday, July 25 near Bridgeport, prompting Level 2 evacuations for Road 28 Northeast and nearby areas; firefighters are using aerial and ground efforts to contain the blaze while reporting no injuries or structure damage.
Fire officials say two new wildfires near Bridgeport ignited over the weekend—evacuations remain in place as crews work on the fires at the Colville Reservation and in the Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest.
