Crews made steady progress on the Kaiser Canyon Fire on the Colville Indian Reservation by reaching 38% containment on Sunday, Aug.
2, despite high winds. Evacuation orders dropped on Moses Mountain while a 32-mile section of State Route 155 remains closed and smoke affects nearby air quality (including parts of the Columbia Basin).
Brisk weekend winds pushed the Little Giant Fire across Chelan County, prompting new evacuations along the south shore of Lake Chelan; a community meeting is scheduled today at 6:30 p.m. at the Chelan County Fire District No.8 station in Entiat.
A wildfire sparked by a vehicle fire torched 30 acres near Liberty along US-97 and forced a 25-mile highway closure with evacuation notices; crews fully contained the blaze by 4 p.m. Sunday, and traffic will resume tomorrow morning with a pilot car escort (sparked at milepost 151).
