East Wenatchee’s Eastmont Parks will host its first annual Smoke In The Valley BBQ Competition on Oct.
3 and Oct. 4 with $10,000 in prizes, a chili cook-off, kids cook-off, live music, Corn Hole tournament, beer garden, and food trucks (the event is sanctioned by the PNWBA).
Wenatchee City Pool will host the Doggie Paddle Swim this Saturday from 4 to 7 p.m. at 220 Fuller Street before it closes for the season; dog owners must show proof of rabies vaccination and pay a fee (local: $5, non-local: $5.50).

Lincoln Elementary is launching Kindness Week (a new tradition in honor of the Decker girls) with a drone photo capturing staff and students forming hearts to share a HOPE-ful message and celebrate school spirit.

Wildland firefighters are protecting structures in Lucerne and Holden Village as the Little Giant Fire—at 127,500 acres with 5% containment—moves north from the national forest.
Crews continue building containment lines and using aircraft for water drops near Lake Chelan.
Officials reported a new wildfire (the Paddy Go Fire) was spotted on Aug.
10 on the Wenatchee River Ranger District in the Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest. The 5-10 acre blaze burns in the Alpine Lakes Wilderness near Granite Mountain and crews use pumps from French Pothole Lake.
