COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Wenatchee's Petty Party will be held on August 22 at Ground Control, 10 North Wenatchee Avenue, where residents will share minor grievances about everyday annoyances. The 21+ event will not allow political topics and offers a safe chance for locals to speak their minds.  KPQ
  • On September 11th, a food insecurity symposium will be held at the Maguire Center at Wenatchee Valley College from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., where local experts and community leaders will discuss how 14 percent of Chelan County residents lack steady access to nutritious food — and offer solutions that include a $10 registration fee for lunch made with locally grown produce.  KPQ

CULTURE NEWS

  • Fabulous Feet Dance Studio won first overall at a national competition in Las Vegas last July—earning 43 awards and boosting their dancers' confidence—and now will perform in local shows including the annual Nutcracker on December 11—14, a spring showcase on May 15—16, and a June recital on June 13.  KPQ

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Wenatchee Police Chief Edgar Reinfeld was appointed as interim city administrator on Thursday by the City Council—he will lead the city until a permanent administrator is selected.  The Wenatchee World
  • Trailheads in the Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest along State Route 20 are set to close temporarily for parking lot repavement, repainting, and pothole repairs—access will be limited until work is completed.  The Wenatchee World

HEALTH NEWS

  • Heritage Heights in Chelan reopens on Aug. 20 with a new memory care unit and end-of-life suites. The event features tours — speakers and refreshments while the Mayor and a state Rep address guests.  The Wenatchee World
