Officials from the Chelan County Sheriff's Office reported that the lightning-sparked Little Giant Fire burned 134,600 acres and caused 35 structures to be lost in the upper Entiat Valley.
A community meeting (Lake Wenatchee Recreation Club, Leavenworth) is scheduled today at 6:30 p.m. to update residents.
🏛️ Government
On the Nov. 3 ballot, Washington voters will decide on Initiative 001, which would require schools to notify parents before providing non-emergency health and counseling services to students – the measure intensifies debates over parental rights and student privacy.
Chelan County Commissioners opened bids Monday for tree removal services to cut more than 100 black poplar trees from Wenatchee River County Park, and interested contractors may soon bid on the project.
