- ➤ The Wenatchee River Salmon Festival will return on Sept. 20 at Rocky Reach Dam Park and Discovery Center for a free Community Day. The Wenatchee World
- ➤ Starting Monday, water main construction will delay access to Saddle Rock Trailhead—hikers may face up to 20 minutes of wait time as they enter the area. The Wenatchee World
- ➤ On Thursday, September 11th, the 24th Anniversary 9/11 Remembrance Ceremony will take place at the 9/11 Spirit of America Memorial in Cashmere — where former Governor Gary Locke will deliver the keynote address at 11 a.m. and about 1,500 people are expected to attend with free shuttle service offered from the Wenatchee Valley Senior Activity Center at 10:15 a.m. KPQ
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Today, the Wenatchee School District is installing 'Slower Is Safer' signs in 15 school zones — fifty in total — to remind drivers to slow down near children while local police increase enforcement of speeding and distracted driving. The Washington Traffic Safety Commission paid for the signs to help protect students on their way to and from school. KPQ

- ➤ Wildfire smoke has worsened air quality today, and local residents are advised to use central and window air conditioners rather than single-hose portable units—EPA guidelines warn that these portable models may pull smoke indoors. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The Washington State Department of Transportation will close the Aplets Way Bridge in Cashmere on Wednesday, Sept. 10 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.—workers will inspect and repair the deck and guardrail and update the signal system at the US 2/Aplets Way intersection while drivers take detours via Goodwin Road or Cottage Ave. KPQ

- ➤ The Washington State Department of Ecology issued an air quality alert for Chelan and Douglas counties today as wildfire smoke blankets the region—health officials urge residents to stay indoors—and local libraries offer cleaner air shelters for those needing safe air. KPQ
- ➤ Confluence Health and Wenatchee Valley Medical Group earned gold from the American Medical Association Joy in Medicine Health System Recognition Program for their work fighting burnout. The award recognizes their efforts to improve staff well-being. The Wenatchee World
