COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Wenatchee Downtown Association will host the Possibilities Tour Conference on Sept 25 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.—the event now spans a full day for local attendees.  The Wenatchee World

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Rootwood Cider Company blends a century of apple farming with modern craft cider production from its family orchard in Manson. The Koenig sisters started the cidery in 2015 — using cider-only apples — and will expand local distribution to serve Wenatchee while honoring their heritage.  Wenatchee Business Journal

EDUCATION NEWS

  • NCW Libraries is accepting applications through Sept. 30 for its 2025-2026 Teen Library Council—students in eighth through 12th grades from Chelan, Douglas, Grant, and Okanogan are invited to apply.  The Wenatchee World

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Tsillan Cellars in the Lake Chelan watershed uses smart sensors and old farming methods to save water and keep vines healthy. Head winemaker Garrett Grubbs said the winery produces award-winning wines by relying on careful watering and hand picking (which reduces chemicals and conserves the land).  Wenatchee Business Journal
  • Volunteers from Cascade Medical Foundation help river users with questions on floating, safety, and local dining as part of the Leavenworth Chamber of Commerce’s Recreation Ambassador Program that collected more than 130 bags of trash last summer. Local groups like TREAD and the Chelan-Douglas Regional Port Authority plan future projects—such as a give-back campaign and industrial symbiosis efforts—to protect the land and boost the local economy.  Wenatchee Business Journal
  • Founded in 1928, the Leavenworth Winter Sports Club built the town's winter sports legacy by hosting early ski jumping tournaments and now promotes sustainable outdoor recreation—focusing on low-impact trails, volunteer stewardship, and community events. GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Governor Bob Ferguson signed Executive Order 25-07 on Tuesday to require Project Labor Agreements for state construction projects costing more than $35 million—an order aimed at enforcing standards set by the Washington State Building and Construction Trades Council.  The Wenatchee World
  • Work on McNeil Canyon Road in Douglas County resumed today after a union strike suspended the project nearly a month ago — an alternate crew has taken over the construction.  The Wenatchee World
