  • The Alzheimer’s Association is hosting the Wenatchee Walk to End Alzheimer’s on Saturday, Sept. 27 to raise awareness about the disease—residents are invited to join to support research and care efforts.  The Wenatchee World

  • Thousands attended the annual Fiestas Mexicanas at Triangle Park today to celebrate Mexico's Independence Day amid immigration concerns—organizers said extra safety measures are being planned.  The Wenatchee World

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Facing a staffing shortage, the Forest Service has seen local volunteers step in to help care for the Enchantments—Washington’s treasured natural area that needs ongoing support.  The Wenatchee World
  • Grant County PUD, Chelan County PUD and the Okanagan Nation Alliance worked together in July to trap and haul sockeye to a B.C. hatchery—bypassing warmer waters in the process.  The Wenatchee World

  • Wenatchee City Council and Mayor Mike Poirier declared September as the Numerica Performing Arts Center’s 25th Anniversary Month on Sept. 11 — a move that marks 25 years of the center serving the community.  The Wenatchee World
  • Chelan PUD extended General Manager Kirk Hudson’s contract until December 2029 because his 28 years of service and steady leadership have boosted community projects for better customer service, environmental efforts, and park upgrades—efforts praised by board commissioners.  KPQ
