COMMUNITY NEWS
- ➤ The first Turning Point USA event in Wenatchee was held on Oct. 14 to honor Charlie Kirk's legacy as local youth delivered passionate speeches about freedom and conservative values. Several hundred people gathered at the Chelan County Courthouse (Memorial Park) to remember Kirk and support the movement. KPQ
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Officials with Chelan County Emergency Management announced all evacuation notices have been lifted for residents as the Labor Mountain Fire cooled—it reached 30% containment for six days after recent snowfall. The final notice for Valley Hi and Mission Creek Road was removed around 10 a.m. Wednesday. KPQ
- ➤ Chelan County approved a conditional use permit for Helion Energy to build the world’s first fusion power plant on Chelan PUD-owned land in Malaga— the plant will supply electricity to Microsoft under a power purchase agreement and is planned to begin generating fusion power by 2028. KPQ
