- ➤ Serve Wenatchee’s Coats for Kids drive collected 800 coats and raised $12,000—from both cash and online donations—to help kids in Wenatchee, Eastmont, and Orondo school districts stay warm this winter. The organization will continue its holiday giving with its Baskets of Blessing drive on Nov. 25, aiming to provide 500 meals to local families. KPQ

- ➤ A new map shows that school cancellation rules in Washington vary based on local resources, with thresholds from 1 inch up to 12 inches of snow. In East Wenatchee, for example, only a record 24 inches of snowfall led to a school cancellation back in January. KPQ
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Chelan County is burning hand piles on 640 acres near Plain and Lake Wenatchee as part of a five-year project to reduce wildfire risk and improve forest health — the work is 20% complete. The burns will continue over the next two weeks and are overseen by the U.S. Forest Service — Washington State Department of Natural Resources. KPQ
