COMMUNITY NEWS

  • A guide advises drivers to prepare for winter driving by keeping essential supplies such as a foldable shovel, multiuse flashlight, blanket, kitty litter, tire chains, gloves, first aid kit, road flares, water and food supplies—and a full tank of gas in their cars to handle icy roads. The list also reminds drivers to check basic items like windshield wiper fluid to stay safe during winter travel.  KPQ

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Washington growers expect to produce 135 million boxes of apples this season, with nearly 75% of the harvest destined for the fresh market. Honeycrisp apples remain a top favorite for consumers but need extra care—special nutrient sprays, irrigation, and cautious handling to protect their thin skin—while Cosmic Crisp offers a more grower-friendly option.  KPQ

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • A Supreme Court ruling on SNAP may change how shoppers use their EBT cards at Wenatchee Valley Farmers Market—cards might soon limit purchases of fruits, vegetables, meat and more. Local officials are reviewing the potential impact if the decision takes effect.  The Wenatchee World
  • The Wenatchee, WA State's first hybrid ferry, was pulled out of service again today when an overspeed protection circuit shut down its engine—WSDOT later returned the vessel to service.
