- ➤ A Wenatchee woman is hosting a winter outreach event on Saturday, Dec. 6 to distribute warm clothing to people experiencing homelessness as temperatures drop across the valley. The initiative aims to offer vital support for those needing extra warmth. The Wenatchee World
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Cashmere School District will end classes at 11 a.m. Friday so students, staff, and families can attend the high school football state championship game at Husky Stadium, where the Bulldogs face the Royal Knights at 3 p.m. KPQ
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Residents spotted a red-tailed hawk hunting in a local backyard, where it used its swift dive (up to 120 mph) to catch worms on the lawn. Experts say the bird is common in the area and poses no threat to pets. KPQ
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Today at 6 p.m., the Washington State DOT closed a 37-mile stretch of North Cascades Highway from Ross Dam Trailhead to Silver Star for winter due to heavy snowfall and avalanche risks (DOT crews may adjust closure points for additional segments). The road will reopen in spring. KPQ
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ The FDA upgraded a recall on shredded cheese from Great Lakes Cheese Co. Inc. on Dec. 2 due to a risk of metal fragments in products sold by major retailers (including in our state). Consumers should return or dispose of the cheese and consult a health care provider if needed. KPQ
