- ➤ Residents can join Light Up Wenatchee, sponsored by First Choice Restoration and One-Tom Plumber, and take a road trip to see Seattle’s 4040 House Christmas light show at 4040 47th Ave. S.W., running Dec. 14–Jan. 1. KPQ
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Clint Strand took over as executive director of the WVC Foundation on Dec. 1 and will lead fundraising, donor relations and scholarship support—strengthening ties with alumni and community partners. He brings local leadership experience from his role on the Leavenworth City Council and public communications work. KPQ
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Cleanup crews set out absorbent booms at Vernita Bridge to contain mineral oil that spilled from Priest Rapids Dam on Dec. 3 during turbine service, and boaters are advised to avoid the river between the dam and Pasco while officials investigate the cause. KPQ
- ➤ The National Weather Service issued a wind advisory for Wenatchee and nearby areas, with gusts up to 55 mph expected from 7 pm today until 7 am Saturday. Drivers should secure loose items and take care on the roads, especially if driving high-profile vehicles. KPQ
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Washington’s minimum wage will rise 47 cents to $17.16 per hour beginning Jan. 1, 2026 (teens will earn $14.58), and some communities may set higher wages based on living costs. KPQ
- ➤ City, county, and state crews clear emergency, major, and local roads during winter storms in our region. They begin work early by applying de-icer on key routes while advising residents to avoid parking on the roads (to reduce the risk of towing), keeping travel safe. KPQ
SPORTS NEWS
- ➤ Local high school athletes gathered Tuesday night at Garden City Academy in Wenatchee to support the Let’s Go Washington initiative that seeks a measure requiring (309,000) signatures to limit male participation in girls' sports and secure locker room privacy. KPQ
