ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ Severe weather has caused mudslides to block Blewett Pass, US 2, and I-90 today — WSDOT said detours are limited with no reopening time available. KPQ
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ WVC has appointed Greg Sparling as its new athletic director, and he began his role at the start of the month. With over 30 years of collegiate athletics experience, he will focus on fundraising, recruitment, and community engagement for the Knights programs. KPQ
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Flooding + landslides have forced the closure of several roads throughout Chelan County today, including major routes near Lake Wenatchee and Sleepy Hollow Bridge, with a 64-mile section of US 2 still closed. The American Red Cross opened an emergency shelter in Cashmere while crews work to clear debris. KPQ
- ➤ Heavy rains from an atmospheric river have created hazardous conditions on National Forest roads + trails, with flooding, mudslides and downed trees impeding travel. Crews are assessing damage and advising residents to postpone trips until conditions improve. KPQ
LIFESTYLE NEWS
- ➤ Washington families can explore a list of 12 popular Christmas cookies, including homemade and store-bought treats, to decide what to leave out for Santa (ideas to suit different tastes) ahead of Dec. 24. KPQ
