➤ Jeffery B. of Wenatchee won a rare $2 million jackpot from the Lucky Times 50 scratch game after buying his ticket at Western Market on Fifth Street, claimed on Dec. 15. The prize was one of three top wins from over 1.8 million tickets & may boost retailer commissions. KPQ

EDUCATION NEWS

➤ Dr. Sue Kane of East Wenatchee was appointed to the Washington State Board of Education by Gov. Bob Ferguson (term began Dec. 8) and will serve until January 2029; she is set to be sworn in on Feb. 11 and will bring her STEM expertise to guide education. Wenatchee Business Journal

GOVERNMENT NEWS

➤ Officials in Chelan County removed trash under the Dryden Bridge on Dec. 11 to fix public safety and environmental hazards near the Wenatchee River — local citizens reported the buildup before rising waters from last week’s storm. Cleanup crews took about two hours to clear the site. KPQ
