- ➤ The Apple Blossom Festival will kick off on Apr. 23 at noon with a 'Chief For A Day' ceremony honoring seven local children in Memorial Park, where community leaders will present them with uniforms — authentic in look. - ➤ The Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest will offer free firewood permits through a new online e-Permit system starting May 1. The digital system allows residents to apply anytime to gather between two and 12 cords of firewood — all permits remain free of charge. KPQ

- ➤ Wenatchee AppleSox are adding three new position players from UC Irvine, UC Santa Barbara, and Hawaii to boost their bid for a WCL title this summer. The season starts on Friday, May 29 on the road and on Friday, June 5 at Paul Thomas Sr. Stadium at Wenatchee Valley College. KPQ
